Meet Your Tutor

Hello! I'm John, an SAT and ACT specialist with over 17 years of tutoring experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan–Dearborn, where I received the Honors Scholar Award for both academic achievement and my work as a university tutor.

I’ve helped hundreds of students significantly improve their SAT and ACT scores, including average gains of about 180 points on the SAT and 4 points on the ACT.

My approach focuses on building confidence, reducing anxiety, and helping students truly understand the test. Standardized exams can feel overwhelming, so I break down complex questions into simple, manageable steps that help students feel calm, capable, and in control.

I’ve worked successfully with students of many ages and learning styles, including those with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I believe every student can improve with the right support, patience, and strategy.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, playing soccer, watching college football, playing games, and trivia.
